6 Of The Spookiest Halloween Treats

Halloween is such a fun time of year because of all the spooky things you can do, like Halloween-themed food and drink. Whether you are throwing a party or just want to spice up your Halloween night, here are some ideas based on some spooky inspiration. 

With Halloween only being a few days away, I thought it was a good idea to share some ideas for Halloween-themed food and drinks. This list has a variety of ideas, such as main meals, snacks and beverages. I will also include Pinterest links to all the recipes for exact measurements.

All the food and drinks I am sharing on this list are relatively easy, but can differ on your preference. You’ll see what I mean down below.

Bloody Pretzels

A fun and easy snack to make, and very tasty. It’s the best of both worlds being sweet and salty. 

Ingredients:

A bucket filled of bloody looking pretzels for Halloween.

Steps:

  1. Bring a pot of water to a steam, not boil
  2. Put another pot or bowl overtop of the hot water- keeping the water on the burner
    1. If you have a double boiler use that
  3. Pour white chocolate into bowl and stir until it’s melted
  4. Dip the pretzels in the white chocolate
  5. Take some of the melted chocolate and add red food colouring, then drizzle over top of the pretzels
  6. Let dry.

Ghost Fruit Skewers

These are so cute, and healthy at the same time. They are a super easy snack to make, but also a healthier option. 

Ingredients:

A cluster of ghost skewers for Halloween.

Steps:

  1. Put fruit and one marshmallow on skewers
    1. Can be in a pattern or random, up to you
    2. Marshmallow can go wherever as well
  2. Take the ink/frosting and draw a ghost face on the marshmallow and let dry.
  3. It can be in a pattern. Totally up to you.

Mummy dogs

Kind of like pigs in a blanket, this is relatively easy and a classic favourite.

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Roll out your crescent rolls
  2. Cut hot dogs in half (optional)
  3. Split them into strips that will wrap around your hot dog
  4. Roll a few strips around your hot dog
    1. Can vary on how you want your mummies to look. If you want more loose you will use less strips or more tight you will use more strips.
  5. Bake until crescent rolls are golden brown

Rotten Devilled Eggs

So I don’t like devilled eggs, and so I am not sure the whole recipe for this one, but here is a link for these Halloween ones!

Ingredients:

Steps:

Again, I’ve never made devilled eggs, so here are the short and sweet steps, and here is the link for the full recipe.

  1. Roll out your crescent rolls
  2. Cut hot dogs in half (optional)
  3. Split them into strips that will wrap around your hot dog
  4. Roll a few strips around your hot dog
    1. Can vary on how you want your mummies to look. If you want more loose you will use less strips or more tight you will use more strips.
  5. Bake until crescent rolls are golden brown

Spider Spin Dip

This is so unbelievably easy, but so many don’t know that!

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Cut a hole at the top of your bread bowl, like you would when carving a pumpkin
  2. Hollow out your bread bowl, tearing the bread into smaller, bite sized pieces. Set aside
  3. Mix sour cream, ranch dip, and spinach together. (Or you can buy premade, wink wink)
  4. Put your spinach dip in your bread bowl
  5. Cut your peppers to look like legs, and whatever you are using for eyes.
  6. Use toothpicks to assemble your veggies to look like a spider on your bread bowl
    1. 2 (or more) eyes, 4 legs on each side 
  7. Tada! Use the bread you tore out as dippers!

Coffin Shaped ​​Pop-Tarts

Pop tarts are so good and homemade are even better. Yet, again, this is a super easy and fun recipe. 

Ingredients:

Start to finish stills of the process of making coffin shaped pop tarts for Halloween.

Steps:

  1. Roll out your dough
  2. Use a coffin shaped cookie cutter or use a knife to cut out the shape you desire.
  3. Put the filling of your choice on the middle of one of coffin cut outs
  4. Take another coffin cut out and place it on top of the filled one.
  5. Use a fork and go around the edge, pressing them together. Poke the top with your fork for ventilation.
  6. Bake as per directions for the dough.
  7. To jazz it up you can make a glaze for the top or sprinkle powdered sugar on.

Mad Scientist Punch

Being so changeable, this drink is great for all kinds of parties, depending on the age group haha.

Ingredients:

The green version of the mad scientist punch in a toxic waste container for Halloween.

Steps:

  1. Mix pineapple juice and gelatin together mixing until all the gelatin is dissolved
  2. Just before serving add the sprite.
  3. Bonus! For smoke or mist look at dry ice to the mixture.
